ABAJO NEW COCKTAIL LIST
The subterranean bar Abajo, beneath restaurant Sucre, is to launch a brand new cocktail list with a menu that intends to play with the classics.
The new seasonal recipes, created by Head Bartender and mixologist extraordinaire, Tato Giovannoni, is designed to complement the existing menu of cocktails and bar snacks with the additions built on the magnetic setting and vibrant music programme giving diners the chance to enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif or settle in for an entire evening’s experience.
Think the infamous Caipirinha… think the much-loved Black Russian, just not as you know them. Examples from the new list include:
Antesala del Infierno (Hell’s Waiting Room)
Príncipe De Los Apostoles gin, kirsch, noilly prat, maraschino, Grand Marnier campari
Black Russian
Vodka, coffee liquor, Guinness
Caipirinha
Cachaça Yaguara, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, sugar
Champagne Cocktail
Calvados, home bitters, sugar, champagne
Suffering Bastard
Principe De Los Apostoles gin, bourbon, ginger beer, lime, mint, Angostura bitters
Tato has become Latin America’s highest acclaimed mixologist – most recently recognised as the 2020 Bartenders’ Bartender by the World’s 50 Best Bars. Alongside Abajo, Tato runs his own bar, Florería Atlántico, which is dubbed the best bar in Latin America and ranked number seven in The World’s 50 Best Bars.
