Hill & Szrok first opened its doors in March 2014 on Broadway Market, bringing with it a new form of dining and food retail which has established itself as one of East London’s go-to destinations, building up a culinary cult following of locals and visitors.
By day, Hill & Szrok is as a traditional butcher shop run by Tom Richardson and his team, which has been specialising in free range and organic meats for over three years now. By night, Hill & Szrok transforms into a lively neighbourhood restaurant run by founder Luca Mathiszig-Lee, with a dozen seats are placed around a central table, a giant white marble butchers block during the day, and a spotlessly clean shared dining table in the evening.
Hill & Szrok have recently started to create their very own series of magazines, The ‘Zine’, which specialise in a different meat in each issue, releasing the Lamb Zine, Chicken Zine and Pork Zine this year. Hill & Szrok visit their farmers, breakdown the animal and share a selection of recipes and wine pairing suggestions. They have plans to release the next in thier series, the Beef Zine, in March 2018.
