JASON ATHERTON'S THE BLIND PIG TO LAUNCH NEW STORYBOOK MENU

18/10/2022

This autumn, Jason Atherton’s renowned Soho cocktail bar, The Blind Pig, is once again taking guests on a journey of cocktail-fuelled nostalgia and playful hedonism with the new release of its iconic storybook menu. Following the success of volumes one to three, the team is excited to announce the launch of the next chapter in The Blind Pig's lauded series of childhood story-themed cocktails on 25th October.

Inspired by the weird and wonderful characters and narratives of children’s literature and reimagined in liquid form with impressive sophistication, the new menu will give customers the chance to travel through the pages of their favourite childhood stories through taste.

The leather-bound menu is designed to read like a storybook, where every page is devoted to a tipple and includes whimsical, watercolour illustrations from Eleni Sofroniou. Adding a touch of nostalgia, the detailed drawings allude to the story that inspires each of the 12 innovative cocktails, from classic fairy tales, Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, through to the enchanting world of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The team have created a diverse menu of drinks that are as delicious as they are visually delightful, incorporating new flavour combinations and techniques.

The Fizzy Lift, inspired by Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, is a colourful blend of Cazcabel Reposado
with dill, cranberry sherbert, Fair kumquat
and Lemon liqueur, topped with Moet Chandon; whilst the Poisoned Apple, made with Blend Rittenhouse Tawny Port, Vermouth Royal Blended cherry and apple essence smoke, is served with an absinthe-soaked cherry apple set on fire at the bar.

Humpty Dumpty’s Cracking The Egg will satisfy the sweet-toothed fairy tale fans, with a complex cocktail of pumpkin and sage purée, red chilli maple syrup and muscovado sugar, garnished with a giant chocolate egg; whilst those with a more savoury taste can sip on The Beyond the Wardrobe with a lip-puckering blend of lillet blanc, and pickled seaweed juice with a choice of Mermaid Gin or Vodka.

Hidden from plain sight, The Blind Pig’s speakeasy vibe, with low-lighting and a relaxed atmosphere, serves as the perfect setting for early evening drinks that turn into late-night Soho dancing.

"I'm very excited to bring back the next chapter of The Blind Pig's Long & Short British Tails series” comments Jason, “Inspired by my favourite childhood stories, The Blind Pig team has concocted a selection of 12 creative cocktails that bring these to life and give customers the chance to explore new ingredients and techniques but with a sense of childlike wonder that The Blind Pig so cleverly conjures with these menus”.
