NATIONAL RESTAURANT AWARDS 2021

17/08/2021

Moor Hall in Lancashire has been crowned National Restaurant of the Year at The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2021 for the second time running. The Grade II-listed restaurant with rooms, in Aughton, Lancashire, is overseen by chef Mark Birchall and has built a stellar reputation since launching in 2017 for its distinctive modern British cuisine that’s based largely on produce grown within the venue’s own five-acre estate.

Second place goes to The Angel at Hetton which has also been named Gastropub of the Year. Third place goes to London’s Core by Clare Smyth, with Newcastle’s House of Tides in fourth place and Cumbria’s L’Enclume in fifth.

This strong showing for non-London restaurants continues as the list progresses: for the first time in the award’s history there is an equal split between restaurants located in and outside the capital, reflecting the increasingly non-London-centric nature of the UK’s restaurant scene.
