NEW HEAD CHEF AT NUTSHELL AND PERSIAN NEW YEAR

This March, Nutshell, the modern Iranian restaurant in Covent Garden from Marwa Alkhalaf and Mohammad Paknejad, welcomes new Head Chef Chris Lyon. Chris has spent the past ten years working in London as Senior Sous Chef at Ottolenghi’s Nopi, before moving to Ramael Scully’s eponymous restaurant, Scully.

He will be joining the team as they celebrate Nowruz, Persian New Year, with a selection of brand-new dishes that he and Marwa, co-owner and chef, have worked closely on together. Marwa has been heavily involved in the kitchen and recipe tasting since Nutshell launched last year.

The special holiday menu will include the likes of traditional New Year Aash Reshteh, an aromatic fern root noodle soup that is garnished with kashk, musir, sumac and fresh herbs; and Tamarind Glazed Salmon with barberries, pistachio and rose. Desserts will feature sweet treats like Zulubia and Fig Cream, fried saffron dough dusted with rose and cinnamon sugar and served with yoghurt mousse and fig jam; and Strawberry Sorbet and Kashk a play on the classic strawberry cream.
