NEW RESTAURANT TERRACES

20/07/2020

As many of our restaurants re-open their doors and welcome guests back following lockdown, al fresco dining is becoming a key part of their new offering. From fresh air drinks carts and terraces with table service, to market dining and farm based pop-ups; here’s a roundup of new outdoor spaces.

PRAWN ON THE FARM

Prawn on The Lawn Padstow have a temporary home this summer in the form of a beautiful marquee at Trerethern Farm, with breath-taking views of the Camel Estuary. The pop-up will serve daily changing menus of the freshest seafood, straight off the Cornish day boats, alongside delicious produce from the Padstow Kitchen Garden. Book now, open from 22nd July until November.

SABOR AL FRESCO

Nieves Barragan Mohacho and Jose Etura always look to Spain for their inspiration and this new outdoor dining experience is no different. Reminiscent of Spanish market bars, Sabor al Fresco is open for casual drinks and tapas throughout the summer. Think Sangria and Spanish tortilla; Fino Negroni and croquetas; or cold beers and mini chicken oyster bocadillo sandwiches. No booking required, just turn up hungry and/or thirsty and take a seat.

TURNIPS AT BOROUGH MARKET

This summer, Borough Market’s stallholder Turnips is joining forces with Tomas Lidakevicius, ex-executive chef of Jason Atherton’s City Social, to offer a range of dining options within the celebrated Borough Market space. Casual plates and cocktails will be served in their usual spot, whilst a 5-course tasting menu will be served under the arches, with Tomas cooking from a shipping container converted kitchen. Book here.

PADELLA

When Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda first saw the Shoreditch site last year, they imagined sunny days sat outside drinking spritz and feasting on plates of pasta. Now, that idea has come to life with lots of space curbside for outdoor dining at the Shoreditch restaurant. And they’ve opened a huge covered terrace in Borough Market too. Join the queue using the Walk Up app, more information here.

ROVI

Ottolenghi’s Fiztrovia restaurant has re-opened with a range of thoughtful safety measures in place, including new tables and a drinks cart outside for guests to enjoy the summer sunshine. Sip on an El Bandarra vermut or La Sueca sangria, and order from Head Chef Neil Campbell’s creative new menu. Book a table here.

KOLAMBA

Soho’s Sri Lankan restaurant, Kolamba, is making the most of the sunshine, taking both reservations and walk ins. With the London weather forecast looking up, you can feast outdoors on their big-flavoured dishes, string hoppers and sambols, and just about imagine you’re in Sri Lanka (perhaps with a little artistic license). Book here.

CAFE MURANO BERMONDSEY

The first of Angela Hartnett’s restaurants to re-open, Cafe Murano Bermondsey has launched with a terrace area for guests to enjoy long al fresco lunches and sun set dinners, the Italian way. Start with a spritz and cicchetti before indulging in a plate of freshly made pasta or a daily special. Book a table here.
