NOURISHMENT NOT DETOX

07/01/2021

As 2020 drags into 2021, the last thing we need is to be bombarded with traditional January fads of detoxing and diets. Instead, we’re looking forward to eating delicious and nourishing food that has been lovingly reared, grown and cooked not only this January but for the entirety of the year ahead.

Below is some information on the wonderful vegetarian, vegan, biodynamic and conscious offerings from some of our clients, perfect for getting your 2021 off to a good start.

Restokit

After weeks of festive indulgence, restaurant meal kit platform Restokit partners will offer a selection of menus and dishes that are delicious, healthy and kind to the planet this January. Rather than delivering hot food, which can compromise the quality, Restokit delivers cold meals nationwide, carefully stored and ready for assembly and finishing at home.

Examples include:

- Gymkhana’s epic vegetarian feast for four

- Ramen experts Shoryu also serve a White Natural Ramen made with their unique tonyu vegan broth made with soy milk, miso, konbu & shiitake mushrooms

- Lima’s vegetarian feast for two makes sure indulgence and superfoods don’t have to be mutually exclusive with dishes such as Truffled Quinoa Salad with shimeji mushrooms and truffle puree, kiwicha and quinoa

Sri Lankan vegan with Kolamba at Home

The Sri Lankan diet is heavily plant-based and with Kolamba at home, Aushi and Eroshan Meewella wanted to stay true to the fresh, nutritious island flavours they grew up eating. The colourful and vibrant vegan box features Young Jackfruit curry, as well as signature Dhal, Beetroot curry, Green Bean and Coconut curry, Pol Sambol, Malay pickle, Date & Lime chutney and Basmati rice. Delivery is available nationwide.

Biodynamic farming with Skye Gyngell

Skye Gyngell has been in an exclusive farm to table partnership since 2014 with Jane Scotter of Fern Verrow farm. Both Jane and Skye truly believe that wherever you are in the world and whenever you have the opportunity, it is imperative to choose to embrace the values of local, organic, regenerative and community supported agriculture. They believe it is the best way to nourish and support both families and the planet. Lockdown has encouraged people and producers to come up with inventive ways to deliver food from small farms and join the dots during this time, including Skye herself, with the launch of Spring to go - her brand new online platform, which shares fresh produce from both Fern Verrow and Heckfield Home Farm.

‘Comfort & Joy by Jikoni’ - a totally nourishing hug in a box!

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ravinder and Nadeem launched ‘Comfort & Joy by Jikoni’, vegetarian and vegan meal boxes which can be delivered to your door. These complete meals have proven to be hugely popular, and are both comforting and nourishing – perfect during these challenging times. With the tagline, ‘globally inspired veg with benefits’, customers can choose from six vibrant and delicious parcels (Punjabi Box, Rafiki Box, Habibi Box, Desi Box, Farang Box and Zen Box) to be simply heated in your oven at home. Crowd pleasing dishes include Sweetcorn, Lime Leaf & Lemongrass Fritters with Chilli Dipping sauce and Crispy Aubergine in Sichuan Caramel.

Conscious meat eating

Award winning, whole carcass butcher, Swaledale, hope that 2021 is the year people will move even further towards considering high-welfare, provenance driven heritage breeds when eating meat. Eating grass-fed animals and following the whole carcass approach is crucial to addressing environmental issues from meat production. Another point they’re keen to address is the age of animals is also crucial. For instance, their beef is between 3 and 6 - much older than commercial - and therefore better for the planet and with considerably more flavour.
