PIP LACEY AND GORDY MCINTYRE TO OPEN THE HICCE HART

12/10/2022

Chef Pip Lacey and business partner Gordy McIntyre will open the hicce hart, a neighbourhood pub located in Islington, London, this November.

Following the success of hicce at Coal Drops Yard in 2021, Lacey and McIntyre will open this North London outpost as their second site. The site will echo the flagship’s restaurant ethos; offering excellent British-style food, alongside an array of craft beer from an independent local brewer and carefully sourced biodynamic and sustainable wines. With a wealth of experience, having previously worked with Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett, Lacey’s menu will celebrate quality cooking using the finest seasonal British produce, whilst staying true to the traditions of classic British pub grub.

The food menu will feature crowd-pleasing favourites, as well as new creations; offering a selection of small plate-style bar snacks for those popping in for a pint, alongside a full dining menu of sharing starters, mains and puddings for those looking to settle in. Sunday roasts will be at the heart of the hicce hart. Alongside the regular service, exclusive events will be held upstairs for guests to enjoy something a little different, including weekly Sunday evening wine clubs and supper clubs led by London’s most exciting hospitality talent.

With a keen focus on the business’ local community, the team will work solely with North London independent brewer, The Goodness Brewery, stocking a range of consciously created beers, alongside signature exclusive co-brew hicce IPA. The adventurous wine list will change weekly depending on availability, led by small batch producers with minimal intervention, with hand pulled wines being served to ensure maximum profit for producers without waste.

Working alongside Lacey as Head Chef is the talented Charlotte Harris, who previously worked at hicce before moving on to further her knowledge at top London restaurants including Fallow. A female led management team, hicce legend Agustina Basilico will manage the floor at the hicce hart having worked with Pip and Gordy since the very start.

On the upcoming opening Lacey notes, “I’m so excited for us to open our second place. And, to do it with existing ambitious members of the hicce family, is the dream come true. I can’t wait for them to flourish and see the hicce hart become the heart and soul of the local community.”

McIntyre goes on to say: “I personally have a massive love for the pub world; its culture, history, its standing within the community. Having spent so much of my working life in and around pubs I owe them for a vast majority of the people I hold dear. The pub is one of the few real levellers in life: it showcases the beauty of multicultural London at its finest. To have the privilege to become custodians of such a historical site is a real honour.”
