TURNIPS, BOROUGH MARKET X TOMAS LIDAKEVICIUS
Tomas Lidakevicius, the ex-executive chef of Jason Atherton’s City Social, will be joining forces with Turnips, stallholders for 30 years, to bring a vegetable centred dining experience to Borough Market from this Thursday 16th July.
A story of hope during a difficult time, Turnips, a family run business, will be pivoting their offering, with the help of the extremely talented Tomas. Both are determined to capitalise on the buzzy market atmosphere and join the disconnect between quality produce and the restaurant experience.
Casual plates and cocktails will be offered in the space where Turnips’ normally trades, whilst a 5-course tasting menu will be served under the arches, with Tomas cooking from a shipping container converted kitchen.
Example dishes include Yorkshire Beans and Peas, 48hour Short Rib; or Torpedo Watermelon, Galangal, Lemongrass from the tasting menu, and Sweet ’n’ Sour Brittany Cauliflower, Sesame Seeds; or Fish Balls, Sicilian Pepper Sauce, from the more informal menu.
