CAROUSEL CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH ‘THE FEMALE CHEF’ RESIDENCIES

23/02/2022

From 8th – 12th March, Carousel in Fitzrovia, will be throwing an all-out International Women’s Day spectacle, spanning five nights with five leading female chefs, in collaboration with Clare Finney, award-winning food writer and author of of ‘The Female Chef.' These women are, in Clare’s words, “rewriting the rules and redefining what it means to be a successful chef”.

Shining a light on the pioneering chefs shaking up the food industry in this country; Clare has curated an incredible line-up for the occasion featuring some of the most respected names out there. This will include Angela Hartnett OBE of Michelin starred Murano and Cafe Murano restaurants; Sam Evans and Shauna Guinn of Hangfire; the much-loved Romy Gill; chef and food writer Sabrina Gidda; and Julie Lin of Julie’s Kopitiam in Glasgow.

Each chef will be offering a unique 5-course menu for 46 guests at a time. First up will be Sam and Shauna from Barry in Wales on Tuesday 8th March, with their critically acclaimed low and slow BBQ techniques inspired by the Deep South; followed by Sabrina Gidda on Wednesday, who will be drawing on a medley of influences from both her upbringing and time spent in professional kitchens (most recently, the women’s only AllBright club).

Thursday night will be dedicated to all things Angela Hartnett, with her sophisticated yet simple Italian inspired cooking; Julie Lin will see in the weekend. Expect bold Malaysian street-food dishes as found at her kopitiam in Glasgow. The series will conclude with chef, broadcaster and food writer, Romy Gill MBE, who will be delivering another bountiful feast of West-Bengal-meets-the-West-Country flavours.

Every single one of these incredible chefs are included in Clare’s first book ever, which features personal recipes and honest interviews; in collaboration with photographer, Liz Seabrook’s, warm and candid portraits. Large scale versions of each of the chefs who will be joining Carousel across the week will be hung on the walls, providing a colourful backdrop to the residencies.

To mark International Women’s Day, a portion of each ticket sold will be going to a women’s charity chosen by some of the chefs. To book please click here.
