CAROUSEL TO HOST POON'S FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

Carousel will play host to London's beloved Cantonese restaurant Poon’s, for a two-night Chinese New Year celebration on 19th and 20th January 2023.


Ushering in the Year of the Rabbit, Poon’s will be popping up in Carousel’s White Room, to host a bountiful 'Steamboat' feast. Guests will be seated around softly simmering stock pots and encouraged to gently poach an array of fresh seafood, marinated meats, Chinese vegetables and silken tofu with a selection of Poon’s legendary homemade sauces - a tabletop sharing feast designed to bring diners together.


For pudding, traditional Nian gao will be served - a traditional sticky rice cake representing prosperity. Literally meaning ’tall year’, the dessert encourages a better, higher and more prosperous year than the one that came before.


Poon’s culinary history runs deep. The legendary Bill and Cecilia Poon introduced London to Cantonese gastronomy in 70s and for over three decades, their eponymous restaurants were a Chinese culinary institution. Their daughter, Amy, has revived the family business, launching Poon’s Wontoneria and a range of sensational sauces online, and cooks only 3-4 pop-ups a year.
