CAROUSEL WINE BAR INTRODUCES A CALENDAR OF COLLABORATIONS

23/02/2024

This year, the team behind Carousel Wine Bar have added a programme of handpicked collaborations and tastings to their regular service, bringing the best of the wine bar world to Charlotte Street. Alongside the weekly Prix Fixe lunch and evening plates, guests can expect additional menus from Chef Ollie Templeton and the kitchen brigade, and hard-to-find wines from exciting producers and friends of Carousel.

NUDO & SUPERNATURAL WINES | SUNDAY 3rd MARCH | IBIZA

The series continues Sunday March 3rd with Balearic Sunday - an extra special collaboration between Carousel and their good friends Nudo and Supernatural Wines, featuring some Nudo fresh and raw classics, alongside a variety of Balearic wines and music from Seiji Ono (Melodies International).

Chef Edo Fiaschi of Nudo and sommelier ‘Loli’ Catillo Fernandez of Supernatural Wines will join Carousel’s own Ollie Templeton and the team in the kitchen to evoke a chilled Ibiza seaside vibe. On the menu? Fresh fish, impossible-to-get-hold-of island wines and funky tunes. The set menu (£55pp) will run from 2pm to 10pm. Book online here.

COMMON GROUND | MONDAY 4th MARCH | LONDON

Teaming up with champions of ‘The New Old World’, Newcomer Wines, the Wine Bar plays host to a very special winemaker dinner featuring 10 industry-defining winemakers from across Burgundy and Germany. They will be pouring some unforgettable new vintages, coupled not only with all manner of anecdotes and oenological wisdom, but a one-off menu created for the occasion by Carousel’s Ollie Templeton and José Lizarralde Serralde. Book online here.

‘I MANDORLI’ TASTING | WEDNESDAY 13th MARCH | TUSCANY

Later that month the Wine Bar team are joined by Maddelena Pasquetti of Tuscan winery ‘I Mandorli’. Nestled in the coastal hills just outside Suvereto, a small village between Bolgheri and Piombino, I Mandorli is a vineyard on mission: “to produce a wine that respects nature, the soil and the land, that belongs to everyone”. Cultivating biodynamically means enriching the soils with a natural composition of microorganisms that help the roots of the vines to find balance, a practice that winemaker Maddelena and her parents haven’t deviated from since acquiring the vienyard in 2002.

Guests can book into the Wine Bar between 5pm and 10pm on 13th March to try an unbelievable selection of wines poured by the very hand that made them, from elegant Chiantis to robust Super Tuscans. Expect tales of sea, minerals, and sunlight, accompanied by Carousel’s regular menu of acclaimed small plates.

PRIX FIXE LUNCH | TUESDAYS TO SATURDAYS | 12pm – 3pm

In addition to this series of exciting one-offs, the Carousel Wine Bar continues to offer one of the best value set lunches in Central London, with a fortnightly changing menu priced at just £22 for two courses (and £25 for three).

The offering changes with the seasons, but recent highlights include the likes of Tempura calçot with yoghurt and radish kimchi; Delica pumpkin rice with sheep’s milk ricotta and cabbage; and Mangalitza meatballs with pine nuts, raisins and tomato sauce.

Meanwhile, the evening menu – “a serious contender for the “London’s best small plates” conversation” – kicks in from 5pm until late, Tuesday through Saturday.
