THE BIB GOURMANDS ARE OUT

14/02/2022

Congratulations are in order for three of our very own, as Imad's Syrian Kitchen, Humble Chicken and Sargasso have been awarded a Bib Gourmand, recognising exceptional quality and value. The new additions were revealed on social media ahead of the virtual presentation on 15th and 16th February.

In London, Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, founded by Syrian refugee Imad Alnarab, has picked up the accolade after opening his permanent restaurant in November of 2020. Imad Alarnab burst onto the London restaurant scene with a series of hugely popular charity events and super clubs after he was forced to flee his war-stricken homeland and portfolio of restaurants, juice bars and cafés.

Humble Chicken also joins London’s list of London awardees. Chef Angelo Sato opened his intimate yakitori bar on 20th May 2021, bringing the spirit of a traditional izakaya to the heart of London’s Soho. Influenced by his Japanese heritage, Sato brought a wealth of culinary experience to project which critic Jay Rayner described as a ‘huge amount of fun’!

A coastal victor comes in the form of Sargasso in Margate. Ran by the team behind London's Brawn, Sargasso is an intimate bolthole tucked away on the Harbour Arm adjacent to the Turner Contemporary. The food is driven by the seasons, featuring locally sourced ingredients and fresh seafood from local boats with head chef Marcelo Rodrigo’s inspiration coming from Europe’s coastal cooking.

These extraordinary restaurants join a list of 16 new restaurants to be awarded Bib Gourmands in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2022, for which the criteria is a delicious three courses for under £30! Reservations are open now.
