This spring, New York restaurant royalty, King, will arrive in Fitzrovia for a 5-night stint from 7th-11th March, collaborating with Carousel on a menu of seasonal hits inspired by the home cooking of southern France and Italy as part of the culinary hub's international guest chef residency programme.

Co-owner and chef Jess Shadbolt and Executive Chef Angeles Chavarria will join Carousel’s own Ollie Templeton and the team in the kitchen to evoke the spirit of King in London, showcasing the understated yet elegant dishes that have made the restaurant such an enduring hit. Co-owner and beverage director Annie Shi will also be out on the floor pouring some suitably excellent wines to match.

Launching to critical acclaim in 2016 and now featured in the Michelin Guide, King has been lauded as one of the city’s hottest tickets. In his review, New York Times restaurant critic, Pete Wells, remarked on "how many little moves they know that can raise a recipe from good to exceptional".

Diners can look forward to understated, seasonal food with influences from southern France and Italy, such as Hand-cut ravioli with swiss chard, potato and saffron butter; and Poisson en papillote of monkfish, red mullet and mussels with Florence fennel and pastis.

From one week to the next, Carousel plays host to an ever-changing line-up of talented chefs from around the world who share the team's passion for unique dining experiences. Female chefs are among the stars of this year's guest calendar, with Harriet Mansell (Lilac & Robin Wylde, Dorset), Joké Bakare (Chishuru, London), Julie Lin (Kopitiam & Gaga, Glasgow), Marianna Leivaditaki and Mmabatho Molefe and her all-female team from Cape Town restaurant, Emazulwini, bringing the best of what they do to Charlotte Street.
