RAVINDER BHOGAL TO INTRODUCE NEW BRUNCH MENU AT JIKONI

07/03/2024

Award-winning chef, journalist and restaurateur, Ravinder Bhogal is set to launch a brand-new brunch menu at her much-loved Marylebone restaurant Jikoni, on 24th March.

Available at weekends only, the menu will offer touches of playful ingenuity in brunch dishes worth jumping out of bed for.

Ravinder notes, “Our brunch menu has always been popular because it goes beyond the usual eggs benny, but after 7 years it was time for a revamp, while still keeping some of the old favourites. Ultimately, brunch at Jikoni is about lazy weekend loitering, chattering with loved ones, devouring delicious food and knocking back dizzying cocktails before midday – no judgement. Wholesome good times.”

Dishes will reflect Ravinder’s maternal and “no borders” philosophy. Highlights include Goan Sausage Roll with Pineapple Ketchup, crisp Buckwheat and pumpkin dosa served with red chilli garlic and coconut chutney, Pea and mint stuffed fish cakes, topped with poached egg and curry hollandaise sauce – a take on the flavours of kedgeree, and Khichadee with devilled cashews, carrot achaar and papad which Ravinder says is her ultimate comfort food.

Slabs of cornbread will come laden with creamed corn and jalapeno relish, whilst Bacon and mushroom bread and butter pudding with pul biber maple syrup is what Ravinder calls “the most decadent take on a bacon sandwich ever.” And of course, no brunch is complete without pancakes; if regular ones are the girl next door, then the luscious, syrup-drenched Saffron malpua served with pistachio ice cream are a Bollywood sex siren.

Cocktails continue the fun. The Pomegranate Negroni has a Persian inflection, the lip-numbing Achari Mary includes Vietnamese dipping sauce, citrus and chillies and the Kampot Sbagliato is a delicately floral drink, garnished with Sanguinelli blood oranges when in season.

Alternatively, diners can opt for Wildpress juice which celebrates heritage varieties of British apples, specialty coffee provided by local Workshop Coffee, or teas from Lalani & Co, experts in single-batch, seasonal brews from artisan family gardens.

Situated at the heart of the Marylebone, Jikoni is a stone’s throw away from the buzzing local farmer’s market, as well as key London landmarks, including Selfridge’s and The Wallace Collection. The perfect pit-stop after a morning of soaking up London’s cultural scene, Jikoni is also ideal for those looking to dine with children, with the restaurant’s genial team always on hand to cater to all needs.
