27/07/2023

Forza Wine, the South London rooftop venue known for simple, fun seasonal drinks, snacks and views is set to open a second site, bringing its inimitable energy to the National Theatre. The 160-cover indoor and outdoor space is set to open on 7th September and inhabit the north-west terrace of the famous Brutalist London landmark.

Forza Wine will open year-round for guests to enjoy an accessible natural wine list and regularly changing seasonal house cocktail list. Their ‘sort of Italian’ inspired snack menu will offer a selection of dishes, perfect for a quick bite or long meal with the ‘whole menu’ option serving four people generously. Dishes on the opening menu include firm favourite Cauliflower fritti with aioli, alongside mozzarella with figs & hazelnuts, pancetta potato cakes & pickled cabbage, and of course, their signature Soft serve. Cocktails will include classics, alongside a menu including serves such as a Cherry negroni, Limonata Bianca and a Frozen peach margarita.

The space is accessible year round with the outdoor terrace covered when necessary. The interior features a split of banquette seating and high-top tables making it perfect for a quick lunch, pre-theatre dinner, post-theatre drinks, or a gathering with friends. A private dining terrace is tucked away on the balcony surrounded by greenery for more intimate occasions, serviced by one long table seating up to 24.

Forza Wine Co-Owners, Michael Lavery and Bash Redford, said, “This is our biggest move yet, and we’re really excited to bring the success of our Peckham and Camberwell sites to the South Bank, opening up what we offer to a wider audience. The opportunity was a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment - it’s THE National Theatre, not only a world-leading theatre and one of Europe’s most famous Brutalist buildings, but also one of the best terraces in London - a perfect spot for anyone who wants to drop by for some food, drinks and views.’’

Kate Varah, Executive Director of the National Theatre, said, ‘‘We are thrilled to be adding Forza Wine to the roster of brilliant food and drink available at the National Theatre. Their reputation for extraordinary wine and delicious plates will further establish the National Theatre as a leading dining destination on the South Bank. We can’t wait to raise a glass with them on the National Theatre’s famous terrace in September.’’

Huw Gott, Co-Founder of Hawksmoor Restaurants and Non-Executive Director of National Theatre Enterprises, said, “The National Theatre has always been known for the excellence and excitement of what’s on its stages. Now that same excellence and excitement is reflected in its food and drink spaces. In partnership with KERB, we’ve been working hard to build a food and drink offer that reflects the quality, care, craft, creativity and diversity of the performances on our stages. With Forza Wine joining Lasdun and a selection of KERB traders at our iconic South Bank home, the National Theatre is set to become a London landmark for food and drink as well as theatre.”

With two existing spaces in Peckham and Camberwell, the latest addition to the Forza portfolio will be the largest project to date. Open from midday to midnight daily, Forza Wine at the National Theatre will overlook the South Bank and River Thames in all its glory for guests to enjoy.
