MICHELIN-STARRED SABOR INTRODUCES ‘LA MESA’

Following refurbishment, Nieves Barragan and José Etura will reopen their Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant SABOR on Wednesday 24th January with a brand new area of the restaurant: La Mesa.


Meaning ‘the table’ in Spanish, La Mesa will be a large group table on the ground floor of the restaurant, offering up to 10 guests the unique opportunity to enjoy some of the restaurant’s most iconic dishes from both the Counter and Asador kitchens, as well as new, daily changing, La Mesa specials.


Think tapas-style dishes to start (like Monkfish Tempura, Pan Tomate, and Piquillo Croquetas with Manchego Cheese), as well as Cuttlefish Papardelle and Arroz Negro, with large sharing dishes (like Arroz Meloso del Día, Cabrito Asado, Whole Suckling Pig, Roasted Milk Fed Lamb, and Rubia Gallega Beef) for mains.


In the coming months, La Mesa will also play host to special events crafted and compèred by Nieves and Jose themselves, as well as some of their most-loved suppliers: one-off tasting menus with sherry or cava pairings, focuses on seafood or Spanish wines, and much more.


The existing areas of the restaurant (the Bar, Counter, and El Asador) all remain, and have been refreshed with a new colour palette, including a change from black to white quartz for the restaurant’s iconic Counter. New timbers and pendant lighting highlight the blues, greens, and yellows used throughout the space.


The outdoor terrace has also been redesigned with large planters to create an enclosed, heated area for aperitivos and tapas no matter the weather. The ambience in this new outside area will replicate that found in bars and restaurants all over Spain, giving Londoners a further chance to experience real Spanish hospitality.


Nieves says, “Six years after first opening Sabor, and five years after winning our Michelin Star, I can’t wait to offer more to our guests, new and old. Everything you know and love about Sabor remains, but La Mesa will allow us to host larger groups than ever before, serving real Sabor feasts which I can’t wait to be cooking.”


Sabor will reopen on Wednesday 24th January. La Mesa and El Asador can be booked up to two months in advance via this link. The Counter, Bar, and Terrace are saved for walk-ins.
